Cuore….a debacle…

Mindless Chatter No Comments »

Its funny how these days people are writing letters to the editor of the local daily DAWN regarding the schemes the car companies are offering. It is commendable that leasing has enabled every TOM, DICK and HARRY to own a car. Not only has this move clogged the roads of Karachi, but there has been a boom in automobile related industries as well. Take the Car tracking system companies, insurance companies and of course the darned Banks who offer those cute little leasing packages. There of course remains the religious issue, you know whether it is religiously allowed or are we sinning.

Anyways when i was planning to buy a new car the first thing that popped up in our family discussions in the small car category was Suzuki Mehran. Since it is a common car locally assembled and the parts being readily available. But since there had been a flurry of letters from disgruntled customers regarding the model we decided on buying a Daihatsu Cuore.

People had been complaining regarding the quality of the Suzuki Mehran  and the parts being used and even the lack of certain crucial parts. Like our cousins first hand experience related that his brand-new-zero-meter-car which he had just wheeled out of the showroom had a disc brake missing.

So when we booked a cuore we were quite sure that we wouldnt be faced with anyu of the problems that were coming in the Suzuki Mehran model. But were we in for a surprise………Lo Behold!

The car had a faulty petrol system and thus we had to use it on CNG.  And then when it was tested and fixed by the service staff there seemed to be a problem with the fuel indicator sensor. The only good thing or rather the only thing different from the Suzuki people was that the customer care people at Daihatsu were quite prompt and friendly and they got things done. Which was unlikely in the case of Suzuki.

But the question remains, that has the mass production forced companies to use low quality parts just to gain more sales. Is’nt the lives of their consumer have any thing to say in this process???

“I’ve yet to see anything in Vista that blows away the Mac OS, even a version of the Mac OS that’s over a year old”
